If you want to use any
of my cartoons in
a publication or a presentation (or for any other purpose) here's what you need to do.
To use any
cartoon from these pages all you need to do is to pay a fee for the
right to reproduce
it (The
cartoons can only be used free of charge for
certain charity or educational
use).
The amount that you have to
pay
to use a cartoon
depends on the type of use to which it's going to be put. The
categories and prices are explained below. If
you use several cartoons -
every fourth cartoon is free.
The prices are usually for the rights to use a
cartoon
once, such as in one publication. When used in
PowerPoint or similar
presentations the rights allow the cartoon to be shown to a specific
number of people (not necessarily in a single presentation). Purchasing
the rights to
use a
cartoon unfortunately doesn't entitle you to use it indiscriminately
for ever. If you want to use an image several times in different
ways, you have to pay separately for each use. Sorry. Payment can be
made using the PayPal
internet payment system
(where I
send
you a specially formatted email that allows you to pay automatically
and easily over the internet) or by cheque. If in doubt about anything, such as if you're not sure which category your intended use fits into, please feel free to contact me. Contact me If

Don't feel that you have to be limited to the cartoons and
illustrations that you find on this site. As a professional cartoonist
and illustrator I create lots of work specifically to
the needs
of individual clients, ranging from private individuals to large
commercial
organisations. If you want a cartoon or
illustration created for a specific project please contact me about it.

includes use within a school,
college or
university by a single teacher or lecturer as a teaching or learning
aid aimed at pupils or students. The fee allows for repeated use of the
cartoon within the classroom, and for reproduction of the cartoon for

Use: There are a small number of uses for which my work can be used free of charge, described immediately above. However, for most personal uses you need to pay a small fee (to cover copyright, administration and overheads). If you think that this sounds a bit mean, please bear in mind that selling my cartoons is how I earn my living, and I have to put a lot of work into it. If I don't get paid I can't keep producing them. Think of the cartoons the way you think of products in a shop - they are there, laid out on display, but that doesn't mean that you can just take them. Please also remember that there's a lot of administration involved in replying to requests, and if I did it all for free I'd eventually starve to death. This category includes use by organizations that are staffed by volunteers or unpaid staff, such as local social clubs and community groups. Any non-profit organisations that employ paid staff generally need to pay for the cartoons, under the Public Printed Editorial Use, Non-commercial, listed above.
